These Terms of Service govern the relationship between Stitching Studio (“we”, “us”) and any customer (“you”) who brings a garment to our studio, books a fitting, or commissions custom clothing. By engaging our services, you agree to the terms below.
1. Services we provide
We offer alterations and tailoring across the categories listed on stitching.studio/services: standard alteration, bridal alteration, custom clothing, denim & casual, leather & suede, 48-hour rush, bundle alteration, and at-home alteration. Each category has its own intake conversation, timeline, and price guide on the relevant page.
2. Bookings and intake
Standard alterations are walk-in friendly during business hours. Bridal, custom clothing, at-home fittings, and complex multi-item projects require an appointment. We confirm appointments by email or phone within one business day. Every project begins with a written estimate at intake — no work begins until you approve the scope and price.
3. Pricing and payment
- All prices on the website are starting prices. Final pricing depends on fabric, complexity, and specific adjustments and is confirmed in the written estimate.
- We accept cash, credit/debit cards, and Apple Pay. Bridal and custom clothing projects use staged payments: a deposit at intake plus the balance at final delivery.
- Sales tax is added where applicable.
- Quotes are valid for 14 days from the date issued unless otherwise stated.
4. Turnaround
Standard turnaround for alterations is 5–7 business days. Bridal and complex projects run 6–10 weeks across three fittings. A 48-hour rush option is available for simple single-seam adjustments at a 1.5× surcharge, subject to availability. Promised delivery dates are scheduled at intake and may shift if you request additional changes mid-project.
5. Fittings, garment changes, and your role
- Bring the shoes and undergarments you will wear with the finished garment. Hem and bust adjustments depend on this.
- We photograph the garment at intake and during pinning so we have an objective record of the agreed scope.
- Significant body changes between fittings may require additional refit time and cost; we will discuss the impact before continuing.
6. Pickup and unclaimed garments
Notification of completion is sent by email or phone. Garments held longer than 30 days after completion may incur a storage fee of $5 per garment per week. After 90 days, unclaimed garments may be considered abandoned and disposed of in accordance with California law.
7. Warranty and re-fit policy
We stand by our work. If something is not right after the first wear, bring the garment back within 30 days and we will adjust at no additional cost — applies to fit issues caused by the alteration itself, not body or fabric changes after delivery. Bundle deliveries carry the same 30-day window from the date you pick up the bundle.
8. Cancellations and refunds
- Cancellation before any cutting or sewing begins: full refund of any deposit minus a small processing fee.
- Cancellation after work has begun: refund of the unworked portion at our reasonable assessment. The completed portion remains billable.
- No refunds on custom-fabric special orders once the cloth has been cut.
9. Risks and limitations
Some garments — particularly heavily distressed denim, fragile vintage lace, and severely degraded leather — cannot be altered safely. We will tell you up front and recommend an alternative or decline the project. We are not liable for pre-existing defects, fabric weaknesses, or damage caused by improper laundering before or after alteration.
10. At-home alteration terms
At-home appointments carry a flat visit fee covering the drive plus the on-site fitting time. The per-garment alteration cost is the same as in-studio. We schedule visits 1–2 weeks out in normal seasons and 2–4 weeks during bridal peak months.
11. Privacy
Personal information you provide is handled per our Privacy Policy. We do not share customer details with third parties beyond what is needed to deliver service or required by law.
12. Intellectual property
All content on stitching.studio — text, images, and brand marks — is the property of Stitching Studio or its licensors and may not be reproduced without permission. Original alteration techniques, patterns, and proprietary workflows remain our intellectual property.
13. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA. Any dispute that cannot be resolved through good-faith discussion will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Sacramento County, California.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the latest revision. Significant changes will be communicated to active project customers via email.
